Overview
What is Ultrafiltration?
Ultrafiltration (UF) is a pressure-driven membrane filtration process that removes suspended solids, bacteria, viruses, colloids, and macromolecules while allowing water and low-molecular-weight solutes to pass through.
UF systems are widely deployed as pre-treatment for RO systems to significantly reduce SDI and protect membranes from fouling. They are also used for direct filtration in water reuse and recycling applications, delivering consistently high filtrate quality.

Process
UF System Process Flow
Feed Water Inlet
Pre-screened feed water enters the UF system at controlled flow and pressure.
UF Membrane Module
Hollow-fiber membranes with 0.01–0.1 µm pores retain bacteria, colloids, and suspended solids.
Permeate Collection
Clean filtered water passes through the membrane and is collected as permeate.
Backwash & Cleaning
Automated backwash cycles remove accumulated solids to maintain membrane performance.
Concentrate Discharge
Retained solids and concentrate are safely discharged from the system.
